Lelanie was born in South Africa. After finishing high school she moved to Stellenbosch where she studied Industrial Psychology. Ergonomics was really the only part of this degree that fascinated her: The link between people and their environment and how this environment, if perfectly executed can make people more productive and generally happy.
After receiving her degree from the University of Stellenboch, Lelanie started to travel, first to parts of Africa, then the USA and then later Europe. After many visits to beautiful places, museums, galleries and different cultures, Lelanie realized her passion for Interior Design.
“I have always been a very visual person and have always been inspired by the beauty of nature. Growing up in the beauty that is Africa has been such a blessing.”
She met her husband while traveling in America. After getting married they decided to move to New York City and it was there that Lelanie started her studies to become an Interior Designer at the prestigious New York School of Interior Design. She also worked part time at one of New York’s best design firms: Sills Huniford. Their client list included people like Tina Turner, Bill Blass and Vera Wang.
After her studies she moved to Atlanta, Georgia with her husband where Lelanie started working with Van Doren Designs, a small and intimate setting and a wonderful learning experience.
In 2005 Lelanie decided to start her own company and has worked on projects in Georgia and Florida as well as in South Africa.
